Grateful for Your Support in 2020
As 2020 comes to an end, we cannot help but reflect on a year that has certainly held challenges for all of us. However, 2020 has also brought us an increased awareness of all the good in our lives. We all have a new appreciation for the ordinary things such as family gatherings, going to school and yes, football games. We have learned new ways of coping with difficult situations and created unexpected relationships. While 2020 also put a halt to or changed the face of many of our yearly events, Trinity Foundation still takes pride in all that we were still able to accomplish. Together, we have made a difference.
Before the advent of COVID-19, we were able to host our 28th annual Trinity Hospice Ball. We came together with a common spirit to support end-of-life care in our community. The 29th annual hospice ball scheduled for Feb. 6, 2021, will be a virtual event. Stay tuned for more details.
COVID-19 forced us to cancel two of our favorite events – our annual Donor Appreciation Event and our Retiree Brunch. However, with a little imagination, we were able to host our Swing for a Cure Golf Outing. Proceeds from this event will support diabetes care and education in our community. Thank you to everyone who supported and participated in this important community event.
We also want to thank and recognize everyone who contributed to our COVID-19 Fund. Your donations of cash, fabric masks, food and personal protective equipment has rallied our team as we navigate uncertain and rough waters. COVID-19 has challenged and stretched our team, but even on the hardest of days we know our community supports us, and we are confident that we will soon be witness to clearer skies and calmer waters.
Patient care at UnityPoint Health – Fort Dodge is enhanced because of your investments. We want to take this opportunity to tell you how your gifts have had an impact. The list is long, so we'll just highlight a few items we have purchased on your behalf.
Over the last couple of years, UnityPoint Health – Fort Dodge has been growing our urology program. Due to the increase in urology surgical patients, an additional urology rigid cysto tray was needed. This equipment allows for more procedures to be done in one day and helps us avoid surgery delays, resulting in patient and physician satisfaction.
In an effort to improve efficiency, accuracy and functionality for our family medicine and pediatric patients across the Fort Dodge region, 17 Welch Allyn Vision Screening Machines were purchased. These machines replace the current process for exams, the Snellen eye chart. Due to age, vision, acuity and willingness to participate, the results with the Snellen chart are based on patient performance. These vision machines provide advanced vision results and the ability to refer patients to an optometrist or ophthalmologist for varying eye conditions. The vision machines will mean that untreated eye conditions that may contribute to loss of vision or educational and social delays are avoided.
No one forgets the feeling of seeing your baby's heartbeat for the first time and that is why we recently purchased two portable ultrasound machines for the OB/GYN clinic. The current ultrasound machine is an older model and is shared between two clinics. In addition to not providing the best image, one machine creates inefficiencies in the clinic. By investing in new ultrasound machines, we can provide patients with the highest quality for their first look and confirmation of a fetal heartbeat, position and first photos while also creating efficiencies and satisfaction for our staff.
Please believe that what you do makes a difference. Trinity Foundation has a long legacy of providing needed transportation, medications, medical equipment and health care services. As we look forward to 2021, we are optimistic that you will continue to see the value in supporting Trinity Foundation and the impact your gifts have on the health of our community.
We thank you for partnering with us; we are grateful for the trust you place in us. We feel fortunate to have loyal donors who are willing to invest in the future of health care.
Please accept our warmest wishes for a happy and healthy holiday season. As always, you may direct your gift to the area of greatest need or any department at UnityPoint Health – Fort Dodge. We never forget that it is your money and your choice. All gifts to Trinity Foundation are tax-deductible. Gifts postmarked by Dec. 31, 2020, will be credited to 2020. All gifts received after Dec. 31, 2020, will be credited to 2021.
Sincerely,
