This is Kelvin's Window
A stained glass window was dedicated on Sept. 27, 2013 in the Trinity Cancer Center in memory of Kelvin Brown. Kelvin was a young patient who would sit in the windowsill to watch as construction on the Trinity Cancer Center progressed. The following text taken from the window ledge tells Kelvin's story.
"Three-year-old Kelvin, an osteosarcoma patient, regularly visited the Infusion Center for blood work following chemotherapy treatments. On his first visit he learned that not only was it okay for him to sit on the windowsill, it was the perfect location for waving to and watching the busy construction workers. From this vantage, Kelvin kept track as the building progressed.
Brock Hinners, Woodruff Construction Project Manager, had seen Kelvin watching, and Brock invited him on an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the new center, presenting Kelvin with his own Woodruff Construction hard hat. Happily donning this new hard hat, Kelvin enjoyed his first of many tours obligingly led by Brock. As construction on the Cancer Center continued, the day came when all of the windows were to be permanently enclosed-except for one. Leaving one window unobstructed was an easy decision for Brock."
